Ready, set, rope! The weather was hot and so was the competition for IFA’s inaugural Youth Reaching Rope-off competitions.
Ropers from across the intermountain west readied their loops and loud cheers erupted from the crowd with each exciting catch. Competitors showed their skills as the distance line crept back until the winners were crowned at each store qualifier and the round of champions at the Utah Days of ‘47 Rodeo.
Youth Reaching Rope-off
IFA collaborated with 7K Roping to host this youth reaching rope-off contest for ropers 12-years-old and younger. This new roping competition drew exceptional talent and awarded the top ropers for their skills.
IFA Store Qualifiers
The competition kicked off with qualifier rounds held at IFA Country Store locations in Vernal, Riverton and Logan. More than 50 talented ropers showed up and showed out over the course of the event.
At the qualifier, ropers had three loops at a distance of five feet away from the 7K Roping Dummy. If they caught in one of their three tries they moved on to the next round where the line was moved back one foot.
At the new distance, ropers had one chance to make a legal head catch and move on to the new distance. The winner of each qualifier was the final roper to make a legal catch at the farthest distance.
